Less than a month apart from each other, Entertainment Weekly had the exclusive scoops for not only how Rita Repulsa is going to look in the 2017 reboot movie, Power Rangers, but they have also revealed the suits for the core 5 Rangers.

The production designer, Andrew Menzies,  explained that “It’s tricky finding a new language for a superhero costume. Ours is an alien costume that grows on them, that’s not man-made. You can’t win everyone over, but we are trying to appeal to a more mature audience and gain new fans.”

Fans have pointed out that Rita Repulsa’s costume looks similar to the Rangers, and with it’s green hue many wonder if there is a link between the space witch and the Green Ranger. Since the reveal of Rita Repulsa’s green costume, images have surfaced of Rita Repulsa dawning a darker look.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat.  Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

The film stars Dacre Montgomery (A Few Less Men) as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott (The 33) as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G (Empire) as Trini the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin (Monster Hunt) as Zack the Black Ranger, and Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect, The Hunger Games franchise) as Rita Repulsa.

The movie is currently being filmed in Vancouver until March 25th; less than three weeks of filming until the production comes to a close. The movie will be released March 24, 2017.
