News is quickly breaking over the Power Rangers fandom about the new reboot movie just as quickly as the initial announcement of the reboot movie. Today, through Power Force members, The Hollywood Reporter, and ComingSoon, news broke of two writers and an executive producer being added onto the creative team for the new Power Rangers movie.
The upcoming movie being developed by Lionsgate and rights holder Saban Brands, will be scripted by X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.
Additionally, Roberto Orci, one of the screenwriters behind The Transformers and Star Trek movies, is coming on board as an exec producer.
Together, Miller and Stentz have credits that include Fringe and X-Men. Also a part of the production team is Haim Saban himself, head of development and production at Saban Brands, Brian Casentini; who Ranger fans will also know has head production for the TV series as well:
Haim Saban, who created the franchise, will produce Power Rangers with Saban Brands’ head of development and production Brian Casentini. Also producing is Allison Shearmur, who oversaw The Hunger Games when she was Lionsgate’s president of production and recently produced Disney’s Cinderella.
There are still posts up around the internet of who have been cast, or who they are looking at to cast in this movie. Take all news with a grain of salt unless officially released. At this time there is still no indication of who has been cast, who is being looked at to be cast, and where filming will be located. What do you think of the new? Are you more excited for the movie? Less excited?
